Harsh Dubey could not contain his excitement after getting his maiden call-up to India's senior team, saying he is looking forward to share the dressing room with legends like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. The 23-year-old all-rounder, plays for Vidarbha in the domestic circuit and represented Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season, has been selected in both India's ODI and Test squads for the upcoming home series against Afghanistan.
Harsh Dubey reflects on maiden India call-up
The rising young all-rounder revealed that he needed some to digest the surprising news of his India call-up, as he always dreamt of sharing a dressing room with icons like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

"If you ask any young cricketer who they want to play with right now, the first two names will be Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. I have grown up watching them. Ever since I started understanding cricket, they have been performing for India and dominating world cricket. So, getting a chance to play with them is a huge achievement for me," said Harsh Dubey on JioHotstar.
While talking further, Harsh Dubey revealed that he always wanted to play along with the two icons before they step away from the game, as they are at the fag end of their respective careers.
"I always wanted to play alongside at least one legend before they retire or whenever their final phase comes. Even if I get to play one match with them, it will be a dream-come-true moment for me," added Harsh Dubey.
Harsh Dubey's impactful performances in IPL 2026
While playing for SRH, Harsh Dubey enjoyed an impactful individual campaign in IPL 2026, where he cemented himself as one of the reliable spin-bowling options. The spin bowling all-rounder claimed eight wickets in as many games at an economy rate of 10.36 and a bowling average of 28.50.
His best bowling figures of 3/12 came in a league stage game against Delhi Capitals (DC).
