Indian wicketkeeper-batter KS Bharat has officially announced his retirement from international cricket, concluding a memorable journey that saw him earn the coveted opportunity to represent his country in the Test arena. The Andhra Pradesh cricketer shared the bittersweet news through an emotional social media post, expressing his deep gratitude to everyone who supported his career, including his family, formative coaches, teammates, and cricket administrators.

KS Bharat retires from international cricket
KS Bharat’s journey in international cricket spanned exactly one year. He made his Test debut for India against Australia in Nagpur in February 2023 and went on to play his final international match against England in Visakhapatnam in February 2024. Over the course of his seven Test appearances, he scored 221 runs across 12 innings at an average of 20.09, recording a highest score of 44. Behind the stumps, he proved to be a reliable gloveman for the national team, pouching 18 catches and executing one stumping.

While his international statistics remained modest, Bharat was a titan on the Indian domestic circuit, enjoying a highly prolific and decorated career. In first-class cricket, the Andhra stalwart featured in 113 matches and amassed 6,102 runs at a solid average of 36.53. His red-ball resume boasts 11 centuries and 34 half-centuries, highlighted by a monumental career-best score of 308. Beyond his batting, he cemented his reputation as one of the country's finest wicketkeepers, registering 380 catches and 42 stumpings in domestic long-format cricket.
His consistency carried over into the white-ball formats as well. In List A cricket, Bharat accumulated 2,692 runs in 83 appearances at an average of 36.37, a tally that includes eight centuries and 10 fifties. When it came to the shortest format, he suited up for 91 T20 matches, scoring 1,812 runs at a strike rate of 119.36 while crossing the half-century mark on 11 occasions.
Bharat also made his presence felt in the Indian Premier League, where he played 10 matches during notable stints with Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Delhi Capitals. Throughout his time in the tournament, he gathered 199 runs at an average of 28.42 and a strike rate of 122.08. His IPL career was spotlighted by a memorable, unbeaten match-winning knock of 78*, which stood as his lone half-century in the league.
