India clinched a commanding seven-wicket win over Afghanistan in the first ODI of the three-game series on Saturday, June 13 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association in Dharamshala. While chasing 195 runs in the second innings, India skipper Shubman Gill dropped a stunning performance by smashing 84 runs off 66 balls, hitting 11 fours and two sixes.

However, after the game one sweet moment took place when India's young all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy received his mother's call while attending the post-match press conference after India's win. Notably, the all-rounder briefly paused the press conference to answer it.
The clip of Nitish pausing the press-conference was shared by BCCI on their official X handle (FKA Twitter) has been making rounds.

How did Nitish perform in the first ODI against Afghanistan?
Nitish Kumar Reddy played a key role in India's win over Afghanistan, as he took two key wickets of Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Mohammad Nabi, which led Afghanistan to bundle out at 194. Gurbaz who scored 107 off just 51 balls with the help of eight sixes and eight boundaries, was dismissed by Nitish, which made the difference, as no other batter from Afghanistan managed to create an impact.

In response, after Rohit Sharma's wicket Shubman Gill carried the chase with his stellar batting performance, as he stretched a solid partnership with Ishan Kishan (34 off 22), who came to bat at No.3 seemed very comfortable before losing his wicket off Rashid Khan's bowling.
India's vice-captain Shreyas Iyer was expected to stay unbeaten in but failed to impress the spectators with his performance, as he got out on 12 runs off Ziaur Rahman's delivery. However, KL Rahul played a quick fire knock of 39 off 19 deliveries with the help of four boundaries and three sixes.
India skipper Shubman won the Player of the Match award for his stellar unbeaten knock of 84 runs off 66 balls, smashing 11 boundaries and two sixes. Now, India will face Afghanistan in the second ODI on June 17 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
