Australia seamer Mitchell Starc kicked off the Ashes in spectacular fashion and racked up three wickets during the first session of the opening Test. He provided his side with the important breakthrough in the first over itself and dismissed Zak Crawley for a six-ball duck. He then went on to send Ben Duckett back to the pavilion for 21 runs before bagging the big wicket of Joe Root for a seven-ball duck. This saw England get restricted to 39/3 at one stage.
Starc's fiery spell saw him achieve a major milestone and complete 100 wickets in The Ashes. He has now becomne the 21st bowler to cross the mark and will be looking to add more scalps to his tally as the match progresses. Additionally, he also became the first left-hand pacer to bag the milestone.
England lose key wickets in first session
England wrapped up the first session on 105/4 with Harry Brook unbeaten on 28 and Ben Stokes batting on 4. They had gone on to lose the wicket of Ollie Pope for 46 runs with just a few overs left in the session. All-rounder Cameron Green was the one to get the big scalp. The visitors look to be in dire need of a big partnership and it remains to be seen if the duo of Brook and Stokes will be able to provide them with it.
