Ravichandran Ashwin shared his take on Shubman Gill's form in Asia Cup

Gill has so far scored 82 runs in Asia Cup

Former India cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin feels that though Shubman Gill hasn't been in the best of form in the Asia Cup so far, the latter's knock of 47 runs against Pakistan will give him a lot of confidence heading into the final few matches of the tournament. Gill played an important inning against the Men in Green and formed a massive 105-run opening stand with Abhishek Sharma. Though the 26-year-old has only scored 82 runs in four matches so far in the tournament his form is picking up and he can play an important role in India's upcoming games.

"Gill played a safe innings, and he still struck at around 200. He has not completely expressed himself, but this innings will give him confidence. He has not scored big in the Asia Cup so far, now he will start expressing himself much more. Today, he also reverse-swept, which I have not seen Shubman Gill do," Ashwin said on his YouTube channel.

Meanwhile, India recorded a dominant six-wicket victory over Pakistan in the Super 4 clash to continue their unbeatun run in the continental tournament. It was a brilliant performance from India especially with the bat. After winning the toss, Suryakumar Yadav elected to bowl first and Pakistan ended up improving their performance with the bat and managed to post a fighting total of 171/5 in 20 overs. The Indian bowlers made a great recovery in the second-half of the innings and allowed Pakistan to only put up 80 runs in the last 10 overs despite the pitch being batting-friendly.

India's stellar batting display

In reply, the Men in Blue made an incredibly strong start thanks to the opening partnership of Abhishek and Gill. Both the batters smacked the opposing bowlers all around the stadium and ended up making the situation easy for the side. Though the Pakistan bowlers managed to get rid of them by the 13th over, the damage was alreeady done. Tilak Varma's valuable cameo of 30 was enough to see Suryakumar & Co. come out victorious.
