India skipper Suryakumar Yadav had a bit of banter with United Arab Emirates (UAE) captain Muhammad Waseem right ahead of their Asia Cup 2025 campaign opener. Suryakumar won the toss and chose to bowl first in Dubai. When introduced by commentator Sanjay Manjrekar to flip the coin, Suryakumar shared a lighthearted moment with his counterpart, Muhammad Waseem, that left both captains smiling.
Suryakumar Yadav's fun interaction with UAE captain
Just before flipping the coin, Suryakumar playfully leaned toward Waseem, covering the coin with a big grin. "Idhar mat dekho" (Don't look here), he joked, sharing a laugh with the UAE skipper. The friendly exchange set a positive tone for the match.
The good-natured interaction between Suryakumar Yadav and Muhammad Waseem continued beyond the toss. As Suryakumar concluded his interview with Sanjay Manjrekar, he and Waseem exchanged more pleasantries as they passed each other, parting with smiles that suggested a mutual respect before the match began.

Suryakumar's toss win was a welcome change for India, marking the first time in 15 international matches that an Indian captain has won the toss. He chose to bowl first at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, hoping to take advantage of chasing under the floodlights. The decision put the pressure on opening batter Waseem to face the new ball first as evening set in.
"We'll bowl first. Looks a nice fresh wicket. Humid also today, might be dew later. If we get an opportunity, we're flexible to do anything but today we want to bowl. We came here early, had 3-4 good practice sessions and also a day off," Suryakumar said after winning the toss.
For the opening match, India's lineup includes Shubman Gill partnering with Abhishek Sharma at the top of the batting order. Sanju Samson has been given a new role in the middle order. On the bowling front, Jasprit Bumrah will lead the pace attack, supported by Hardik Pandya and possibly Shivam Dube, who continues to be a favored player in the T20 format. The rest of the team is rounded out by three spinners and a strong group of all-rounders.
