Livingstone, who was included in the squad to replace the injured Jos Buttler, lit up the Home of Cricket with his aggressive batting, particularly against Mitchell Starc. After being asked to bat first, England posted a formidable score of 312 runs for the loss of five wickets in 39 overs. Livingstone came to the crease after Adam Zampa dismissed Harry Brook, who had backed up his century in Durham with an impressive 87-run knock. From that point on, Livingstone continued to play his shots freely, showcasing his aggressive batting style.

In the final over of the innings, Liam Livingstone continued to exert pressure on Mitchell Starc, scoring 28 runs off the over. He began with a massive six on the on-side off the first ball. Livingstone's onslaught continued, as he cleared the boundary again off the third and fourth balls, putting Starc in a challenging position. He hit his fourth six of the over, further increasing the pressure on Starc. Livingstone finished the over and the English innings with a boundary off the last ball, showcasing his dominance over the Australian bowler.

Livingstone's Record-Breaking knock
Liam Livingstone's aggressive batting against Mitchell Starc led to an embarrassing record for the Australian bowler. Starc conceded 28 runs in the final over, making it the most expensive over bowled by an Australian in ODIs. This record was previously held jointly by Simon Davis, Craig McDermott, Xavier Doherty, Adam Zampa, and Cameron Green. Livingstone also achieved another remarkable feat, scoring the fastest fifty in ODIs at Lord's in just 25 balls. He equaled Andre Flintoff's record for the most sixes in an innings at Lord's, with seven sixes. England also set a new record for the most sixes by a team at the historic venue, hitting a total of 12 sixes.
