Yuzvendra Chahal seems to have run out of favours. Chahal was one of the notable omissions from India’s second-string T20I squad for the five-T20I series against Australia starting November 23 in Visakhapatnam. Leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi was picked over Chahal in the squad as India are set to begin their preparations for the T20 World Cup 2024 after a heartbreaking loss to Australia in the ODI World Cup final. Chahal did not use a single word and took to his X account to post a smiley.
Chahal is India's leading wicket-taker in T20Is. He has 96 wickets from 80 matches including best bowling figures of 6/25. His economy rate is 8.19 runs per over.

Chahal was one of the prime wicket-takers in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. For Rajasthan Royals (RR), the leggie took 21 wickets from 14 games including three four-fers.
However, Chahal's record against Australia has not been impressive. From 10 matches, he has eight wickets. He has remained wicketless in a few games and conceded runs at an economy rate of 8.93 runs per over against Australia.
Earlier this year, Chahal was not picked in India’s squad for ODI World Cup. After getting snubbed, he travelled to England to play County cricket for Kent.
Parat from Bishnoi, Axar Patel, and Washington Sundar are the two spin-bowling all-rounders. In the absence of an injured Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav has been appointed as India’s new T20I captain. Ruturaj Gaikwad who led India to Asian Games 2023 glory will be vice-captain in the first three games. Shreyas Iyer will play the last two T20Is as vice-captain when he returns after a break to manage his workload.
Apart from Chahal, Deepak Chahar and Sanju Samson are two notable omissions from the T20I squad.
India’s T20I squad: Suryakumar Yadav (c), Ruturaj Gaikwad (vc), Ishan Kishan, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, Shivam Dubey, Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna, Avesh Khan, Mukesh Kumar, Shreyas Iyer (for last two T20Is)
