BCCI has finally announced India's squad for the upcoming T20I series against Bangladesh which is slated to start from October 6. After the conclusion of the ongoing Test series, India will play a total of three T20Is at Gwalior, New Delhi and Hyderabad respectively.
Mayank Yadav makes surprise entry, Varun Chakaravarthy recalled
India's pace sensation Mayank Yadav, who burst onto the scene after breaching the 150 km/h mark regularly in the previous Indian Premier League season for Lucknow Super Giants, has earned his maiden call-up to the Indian national team. The squad announcement also saw the return of mystery spinner Varun Chakaravarthy and wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma to the national setup. However, Sanju Samson is expected to be the preferred wicketkeeper for India. The three-match T20I series between India and New Zealand will begin on October 6 in Gwalior. The remaining matches will be played on October 9 in New Delhi and October 12 in Hyderabad.
"The Men's Selection Committee has picked India's 15-member squad for the upcoming IDFC FIRST Bank T20I series against Bangladesh. After the completion of the Test series, India will play three T20Is at Gwalior, New Delhi and Hyderabad," BCCI said in a statement.
Suryakumar Yadav to lead India in T20I series against Bangladesh
Suryakumar Yadav will captain the Indian team in the T20I series against Bangladesh. Hardik Pandya is also be part of the squad. Notably, the T20I squad does not include any players from the recent Test series against Bangladesh. Meanwhile, Ishan Kishan and Yuzvendra Chahal have also been snubbed from the 15-member squad.
Post Bangladesh series, India will tour South Africa in November for a four-match T20I series. The series will commence on November 8 at Kingsmead Stadium in Durban, followed by a match on November 10 at St George's Park in Gqeberha. The series will then move to Centurion for the third match on November 13, with the final match taking place at Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg on November 16. After the South Africa tour, India is scheduled to travel to Australia for a highly anticipated five-match Test series.
