Rohit Sharma break Gautam Gambhir's Test record

India captain Rohit Sharma who was in scintillating form on the second Test against Bangladesh at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. He smashed 23 runs off just 11 balls in the first innings of the second Test before being departed. 

With his knock against Bangladesh, Rohit surpassed the India head coach Gautam Gambhir's Test run tally of 4154. Gambhir, who played 58 Tests for India between 2004 and 2016, was known for his gritty performances in the longest format of the game. 

After bowling out Bangladesh for 233 in their first innings, India approached their batting with an aggressive mindset, determined to push for a result despite losing significant time to rain on the first three days.

Rohit Sharma led the charge, opening the innings with a bang by hitting consecutive sixes off the first two balls of the second over. Rohit, who made his Test debut in 2013, now has 4178 runs to his name in 61 matches.

 

New records for team India in Bangladesh 2nd Test

With Rohit Sharma's blistering knock with Yashasvi Jaiswal, India broke the record for the fastest 50, 100, 150, 200 in the longest format of the game. India are currently number one in the World Test Championship points table. India have not lost  a Test series on home soil since 2012.

Yashasvi Jaiswal notched another half-century as India triumphed over Bangladesh by seven wickets in the rain-affected second Test, completing a clean sweep of the two-match series on Tuesday.

After bowling Bangladesh out for 146 in their second innings, thanks to three-wicket hauls from Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Jasprit Bumrah, India chased down the modest target of 95 runs in just 17.2 overs. Jaiswal contributed 51 runs, while Virat Kohli finished not out on 29.
