Virat Kohli will return to Test cricket after January.

Kohli ended all speculations of rift with head coach Gautam Gambhir.

Former teammates Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir who have had their fair share of altercations during the Indian Premier League (IPL) had a conversation ahead of the first Test of the long season ahead. The bcci.tv posted a teaser of the interview on September 18 that has gone viral on social media.

In the teaser, Kohli says "We've come a long way, and we're putting an end to all the masala and all the spice” taking a dig at speculations of rift between the two over the years.

Head coach Gambhir also praised Kohli for getting into the zone that he claims he got just once in his Test career when he batted for two and a half days in Napier against New Zealand. The former Indian opener recalled Kohli’s stellar run on Australian pitches nearly a decade ago.

“I remember when you had that bumper series in Australia where you scored heaps and heaps of runs and that got you in that zone. And for me, it was exactly the same when I played in Napier. And if I look back, can I bat for another two and a half days? (137 off 436 balls) I don't think so. I could have ever done that again and I have never been in that zone ever in my life after that. So I can imagine ho good that feeling is to be in that zone. And I’m sure you must have experienced this many more times as compared to what I have,” Gambhir said while lauding Kohli.

Earlier this week, Gambhir was seen sharing some insights with Kohli during the net session at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Kohli also asked Gambhir whether getting into arguments with opposition players affects his concentration or not.

“You've had more altercations than I have. I think you can answer than question better than I can,” Gambhir replied as both Delhi-born cricketers laughed.

Kohli back to red-ball cricket

Kohli who missed the home Test series against England earlier this year is set to make a return to Test cricket. He has had a good record against Bangladesh in the format averaging 54.62 including two centuries.
