Good news for the fans as Ellyse Perry, widely regarded as one of the greatest players in women’s cricket, has confirmed her availability for the 2027 Women’s Premier League (WPL) season with Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The Australian all-rounder has been named in the list led by Smriti Mandhana for the fifth season of the league.

Perry withdrew from the 2026 WPL campaign earlier this year, citing personal reasons. She, who missed the franchise’s title-winning 2026 campaign, has now indicated her willingness to return, a move that strengthens RCB’s squad ahead of the mini-auction.

RCB has retained 13 players, while releasing four ahead of the October 28 auction in Kochi. The released players are Grace Harris, Linsey Smith, D Hemalatha and Gautami Nayak. RCB head coach Malolan Rangarajan said Perry signalled her availability in August.
The WPL 2027 mini-auction is scheduled for 28 October in Kochi. RCB will enter the auction with five slots remaining, including two overseas places, and a purse of INR 1.15 crore. The tournament itself is set to run from 14 January to 7 February 2027.
Perry’s return is expected to bolster RCB across batting, bowling and fielding. The 34-year-old Australian has been a key figure for the side in previous seasons and remains one of the most experienced and versatile players in the competition.
