Indian young wicketkeeper batter Dhruv Jurel revealed Rohit Sharma's pep talk during his Test debut ahead of red ball series against Bangladesh. The 23-year-old batter made his Test debut against England under Rohit Sharma's captaincy. He revealed that Rohit casually called him and asked all good? Rohit also told him that you are special that is why you are here in Indian camp.
He also said that Rohit suggested him to start smashing from the first ball but make yourself 100 per cent sure before smashing a ball.
“I had eye contact with Rohit bhaiya on many occasions, but I couldn't muster the courage to talk to him. Then, he casually called me, 'idhar aa! (come here!)'. Then he said, 'Kya ho gaya? Sab badhiya? Tere me dum hai isliye tu aaya hai, tere me potential hai. Aaram se reh, bindaas. Pehli ball maarni hai, maar. Bas 100 per cent sure hoke maariyo," Jurel said while speaking on TV presenter Jatin Sapru's YouTube channel.
Jurel stepped in behind the stumps, taking over from the struggling KS Bharat in India’s playing XI, and played a crucial role in India’s 4-1 series triumph over England. Additionally, he featured in two T20 Internationals for India against Zimbabwe in July.
