Bengal notched an emphatic 287-run win over Kerala in their Ranji Trophy clash

Elsewhere, Mumbai routed Haryana by 10 wickets

In a compelling round of Ranji Trophy Elite Group action, spin prowess and pace dominance took center stage across the country. Left-arm spinner Pradipta Pramanik delivered a career-defining performance to complement veteran speedster Mohammed Shami's crucial breakthroughs as Bengal demolished Kerala by 287 runs in Mangalapuram. Meanwhile, in Lahli, off-spinner Tanush Kotian spun a web around Haryana, capturing a sensational career-best 8-wicket haul to propel Mumbai to a resounding 10-wicket victory.

Across other venues, atmospheric disruptions from Cyclone Arnab left its mark on matches in eastern India, though Delhi captain Ayush Badoni managed to showcase his sublime form with a second consecutive double century before rain brought an early end to proceedings in Ranchi.

Pramanik and Shami see Bengal annihilate Kerala by 287 runs

Bengal continued their dominant march at the top of Elite Group C, securing their third consecutive win of the season with a crushing 287-run victory over Kerala on Day 4 at the KCA Cricket Ground in Mangalapuram.

Chasing a daunting fourth-innings target of 408, Kerala resumed the final morning in dire straits at 53/4. Any hopes of a rearguard action were swiftly snuffed out as Bengal’s bowling unit dismantled the remaining lineup for just 120 runs in 38.4 overs.

The star of the final day was left-arm spinner Pradipta Pramanik, who achieved his maiden 10-wicket match haul in first-class cricket. Having picked up 4/44 in the first innings, Pramanik turned the screws further on Day 4 to wrap up second-innings figures of 6/51, finishing with match figures of 10/95.

Mohammed Shami's crucial spell

Bengal’s victory was anchored by all-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed, who hit a stellar 121 in the first innings to help Bengal post 350. In response, Kerala struggled against Bengal's disciplined bowling attack. Mohammed Shami, continuing his return to red-ball rhythm, generated sharp pace and movement, snaring crucial wickets in both innings to finish with five wickets in the match.

Kerala’s first innings disintegrated for 141, with captain Vishnu Vinod top-scoring with 41, granting Bengal a massive 209-run first-innings cushion. Bengal then tacked on 198 in their second turn at bat to set Kerala a target of 408.

Kerala's batting collapse on final day

Pramanik struck on the very first morning of the final day, removing Kerala captain Vishnu Vinod without adding to his overnight score of 19. He quickly followed up by dismissing Salman Nizar for just 1, reducing Kerala to complete disarray.

Mohammed Shami then stepped up from the other end to tighten Bengal’s vice-like grip. Shami bowled with relentless accuracy, removing key middle-order batters Aditya Sarwate and Vaisakh Chandran in quick succession as Kerala sank to 70/8.

A brief counter-attack ensued via Mohammed Azharuddeen (26 off 44 balls) and MD Nidheesh, who struck a brisk 33 off 28 deliveries with five boundaries and a six. However, Shahbaz Ahmed brought an end to the resistance by removing both batters in consecutive overs to wrap up the innings.

Shahbaz was awarded Player of the Match for his outstanding all-round show (121 & 20 runs, alongside match bowling figures of 4/41). The win earned Bengal six full points, cementing their position at the top of Group C with 18 points.

Kotian's Career-Best 8/81 Drives Mumbai to 10-Wicket Rout over Haryana
In Elite Group D, 42-time champions Mumbai turned in a clinical performance to thump Haryana by 10 wickets, clinching their third consecutive bonus-point victory of the tournament.

Off-spinner Tanush Kotian was the standout hero for Mumbai, putting on a spinning masterclass to register career-best figures of 8/81 in the second innings.

Brief scores: Bengal 350 (Shahbaz Ahmed 121) and 198 (Abhimanyu Easwaran 47, Jalaj Saxena 5/70) beat
Kerala 141 (Pradipta Pramanik 4/44) and 120 (Pradipta Pramanik 51/6) by 287 runs.

Tanush Kotian's record spell in Mumbai's crushing win over Haryana

Having conceded a 160-run first-innings lead, Haryana resumed Day 4 on 73/2 in their second innings. A stubborn 81-run eighth-wicket partnership between Samant Jakhar (40) and Anuj Thakral (40*) threatened to delay Mumbai's victory march on a slowing surface.

Kotian broke the frustrating stand by removing Jakhar, before cleaning up the tail to bowl Haryana out for 256. His 8/81 broke his previous personal bests and set Mumbai a modest target of 97 runs.

Mumbai needed only 10.4 overs to wipe out the target. Opener Angkrish Raghuvanshi put on a display of pure power-hitting, racing to a 29-ball half-century and finishing undefeated on 67 off 39 balls (7 fours, 3 sixes). His partner Divyaansh Saxena made an unbeaten 30 off 25 balls, helping Mumbai secure a maximum 7 points to continue their unbeaten run.

While spinner-dominated finishes stole the headlines in Pune and Lahli, weather disruptions caused by Cyclone Arnab over the Bay of Bengal forced early draws in eastern India.

Brief scores: Mumbai 430 & 97/0 in 10.4 overs (Angkrish Raghuvanshi 67 not out) beat Haryana 270 256/2 (f/o) in 85.5 overs (Himanshu Rana 46, Nishant Sindhu 44; Tanush Kotian 8/81, Musheer Khan 2/75) by 10 wickets. Points: Mumbai 7, Haryana 0.

Badoni's double ton stands out in Ranchi draw

In Ranchi, no play was possible on Days 3 and 4 as heavy downpours forced Delhi and Jharkhand to share points. However, the game will be remembered for Delhi skipper Ayush Badoni’s second consecutive double century.

Badoni hammered an unbeaten 210 off 228 balls, studded with 19 boundaries and three sixes, taking Delhi to 515/5 declared. Jharkhand had reached 131/4 in reply—with Utkarsh Singh unbeaten on 53—before the rain set in permanently. Delhi earned three points on the strength of their first-innings declaration, while Jharkhand took home one point.

At the KIIT Stadium in Bhubaneswar, the match between Odisha and Services suffered an identical fate. After Services bowled Odisha out for 194, driven by left-arm spinner Pulkit Narang’s 6/47—Services reached 40/0 in 12 overs before Cyclone Arnab halted proceedings. With no play possible on Days 2, 3, and 4, both teams were forced to settle for one point each.

Brief scores: At Ranchi: Delhi 515/5 declared. Jharkhand 131/4. Match drawn. Points: Delhi 3, Jharkhand 1.
Brief scores: At Bhubaneswar: Odisha 194. Services 40/0. Match drawn. Points: Odisha 1, Services 1.
