Pakistan to host another tournament in April.

An ICC tournament is scheduled to start in Pakistan less than a month after the current Champions Trophy concluded that will determine the teams for the ICC Women's World Cup, which will take place in India later this year. The Women's World Cup qualifier, which will probably go to Pakistan, will be announced by the International Cricket Council (ICC). It is anticipated that the six-team competition would start on April 4. Although the precise dates and location are still pending, it is known that Lahore will serve as the host city.

Teams that will participate in this tournament

In addition to Pakistan, five other teams—Bangladesh, West Indies, Ireland, Scotland, and Thailand—will join the competition for the two seats in the eight-team World Cup that will take place in India. The 50-over competition, which is provisionally set for October of this year, has already seen the signing of spots from Australia, England, South Africa, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, and hosts India.

Given the diplomatic ties between India and Pakistan and the recent agreement between the PCB and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to stage international matches in each other's nations, the tournament is very important for India. The two boards have decided that any international match featuring their national teams will be played in a neutral nation, with the International Cricket Council (ICC) serving as the regulatory third party. India's matches in the current Champions Trophy are being held in Dubai under the same hybrid arrangement.

Whether and where the India-Pakistan match would take place in a third nation will be a major topic of dispute if the Pakistan women's team qualifies for the World Cup. Even if this is still just a hypothetical situation, it might be a relevant topic of discussion in the future.

A hybrid concept was largely implemented when India hosted the Women's World Cup in 2013. The majority of the matches took place in Mumbai, but the Pakistani team played in Cuttack because they were worried about being threatened by a local political party. Returning to Pakistan, the qualifier's scheduling is expected to conflict with the start of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) on April 11. In order to prevent scheduling conflicts with the T20 franchise competition, the PCB and the ICC will also need to modify the dates.

If the Pakistan women's team makes it to the World Cup, there will be much debate over whether and where the India-Pakistan match would be played in a third country. Even though this scenario is currently purely hypothetical, it could be a pertinent subject to explore in the future. The first ICC event to take place in Pakistan in 29 years was the Champions Trophy. The last time the nation hosted a major international event was in 1996, when it co-hosted the World Cup alongside India and Sri Lanka. Because of security concerns, no ICC event has been staged in Pakistan since.
