Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed lavished praise on India batting great Virat Kohli despite losing their ICC Champions Trophy 2025 must-win game against India at Dubai International Stadium in Dubai. Abrar, who made his ODI debut against Zimbabwe in 2024, picked up vice captain Shubman Gill's wicket during his first outing against India.
Abrar Ahmed's animated celebration after dismissing Shubman Gill saw many criticising him for the unwanted send-off. Despite his celebration, Kohli was seen appreciating the bowler’s efforts despite India cruising their way to a win by six wickets. Abrar took to his Instagram to laud Kohli's gesture for him after Pakistan was ruled out of the Champions Trophy 2025.

"Bowling to my childhood hero Virat Kohli. Grateful for his appreciation—his greatness as a cricketer is only matched by his humility as a person. A true inspiration on and off the field!" wrote Abrar.
Coming back to the Champions Trophy, Pakistan are ruled out of the tournament after losing their first two league matches of the mega event. Pakistan's third league match against Bangladesh washed out due to rain at Rawalpindi Stadium in Rawalpindi. On the other hand, India have sealed their berth in the semifinal after defeating Bangladesh and Pakistan in their first two league matches. The Men in Blue will now face New Zealand for their third league match before featuring in the semifinal. The venue for the Champions Trophy final also depends on India's performance. If Rohit Sharma-led side qualifies for the final, it will take place in Dubai. Otherwise Pakistan will host the summit clash.
