A threatening video posted on YouTube by terrorist Gurpabant Singh Pannu, operating under the name of Sikh for Justice, has sparked panic within the Jharkhand Police ahead of the fourth Test between India and England at JSCA Stadium.

Pannu's video explicitly demands the return of the England team and alleges the instigation of Maoist organisations.

High alert in Jharkhand

Ranchi Police has filed an FIR at Dhurwa police station in response to the threats, citing concerns over the stadium being built on tribal land. Security measures have been intensified around the stadium, with various agencies, including the IT and cyber cells of Jharkhand Police, on high alert.

“Gurupatwant Singh Pannun has threatened the India and England teams to cancel the match in Ranchi. He also urged the CPI (Maoist) to create disturbance in a bid to cancel the match.

“An FIR has been lodged against him at Dhurwa police station under the IT Act and investigation has been initiated,” Deputy Superintendent of Police, Hatia, P K Mishra told reporters.

No Bumrah and Rahul in Ranchi Test

Team India on February 20 landed in Ranchi for the fourth Test of the series. The notable absentees were fast-bowling spearhead Jasprit Bumrah and KL Rahul

Later, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in a media release announced that Bumrah has been released from the squad as part of workload management. No replacement has been named whereas Mukesh Kumar who was released for the Rajkot Test to play Ranji Trophy has been added back to the squad.

The release also revealed that KL Rahul has been ruled out of the Test series as he is yet to regain full fitness. In addition, his participation in the fifth and final Test of the series in Dharamsala is subject to fitness as well.

Rahul complained of pain in his right quadriceps after the Hyderabad Test. He was sent to the National Cricket Academy (NCA), Bengaluru for rehabilitation with Ravindra Jadeja who suffered a hamstring injury. While Jadeja returned for the Rajkot Test and won the match with a century and five-wicket haul, Karnataka batter Devdutt Padikkal received his maiden Test call-up.
