Meanwhile, Rohit came up with a befitting reply to his critics as he tonked a magnificent century, putting his team in a commanding position. Featuring a display of superb strokeplay Rohit brought his 32nd ODI ton with a cracking six. With this he surpassed Ricky Ponting's century tally which placed him third on the all-time list, behind only Sachin Tendulkar (49) and Virat Kohli (50).

Rohit's innings of 119 runs off 90 balls, which included 12 fours and 7 sixes, came at a blistering strike rate of over 132. His dominant performance propelled India past the 200-run mark with ease.  Liam Livingstone eventually dismissed Rohit, but the foundation he laid, along with Shubman Gill's second consecutive ODI half-century, took India closer to the victory line. India ended up winning the match by four wickets with 5.3 overs to spare, hence clinched the series 2-0 with a match to spare.
