Where do India stand in WTC 2025-27 standings after 165-run win vs Sri Lanka in Galle?

The Shubman Gill-led Indian side resumed their World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 campaign with a 165-run win over Sri Lanka in the first Test of the series at Galle International Stadium on August 19. The win helped take India’s win percentage past 50. They still remain in the fifth position, below Bangladesh who registered a historic Test win against Australia in Darwin last week.

Despite the defeat, the Dhananjaya de Silva-led Sri Lanka held on the sixth place in the WTC 2025-27 standings but their win percentage has taken a hit.

How ENG vs PAK, AUS vs BAN this week will impact WTC table

After the conclusion of Galle Test, Joe Root-led England go up against Pakistan in the first Test of the series at Headingley, Leeds, on August 19. Pakistan are without the services of their injured captain Babar Azam. Salman Agha will make his Test captaincy debut.

If Pakistan win the opening Test of the series, they will take the sixth position alongside Sri Lanka with a win percentage of 33.33. If England win the Test, they won't move up in the standings. But, it would lead to Pakistan slipping down to the bottom of the points table once again.

A few days later, table-toppers Australia take on Bangladesh at Great Barrier Reef Arena, Mackay. In the aftermath of their first ever Test defeat to Bangladesh at home, Australia have dropped Jake Weatherald and recalled Matt Renshaw to open alongside Travis Head.

If Australia win the second Test of the series, they will retain the top position. If Bangladesh continue their historic run and beat Australia, the hosts will lose the top spot to South Africa. A win will also help Bangladesh share the second spot with New Zealand as their win percentage will be 72.22 and Australia will slip two places.
