Pakistan vs England, 1st Test: England batter Joe Root smashed a double century in the ongoing first Test match against Pakistan at Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan. This was Root's sixth double ton in the longest format of the game and with this, he equals the record of legendary batters Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, Virender Sehwag. 

Joe Root received a stroke of luck on Thursday morning in Multan when Babar Azam dropped him on 186, denying Naseem Shah an early breakthrough. Root capitalized on this opportunity and went on to reach the impressive milestone, marking his second major achievement in the Test against Pakistan.

Root surpassed India's legendary batter Rahul Dravid who scored five double centuries in his Test career. Root reached this milestone during the first session of Day 4. After reaching the 200 runs mark he took off his helmet kissed the badge on it and raised his bat.

Joe Root is in the form of his life the batter has been breaking records. Earlier on Day 3, Root surpassed Alastair Cook's tally of 12,472 runs to become England's all-time run-getter in Test cricket. Root had headed to Pakistan after having scored just one fifty in three Tests during England's trip to the Asian country in 2022. 

However, the former captain made up for it, notching up a daddy hundred, leading England's strong response to Pakistan's mammoth total of 556 in the first innings.

Coming back to the match, while writing this copy England took the lead of six runs. Joe Root is playing on 216 runs and Harry Brook is playing on 174 runs. Pakistan are looking desperate to get a breakthrough.
