7 ducks, bowled out for 35 and a match that finished in 82 balls

A day after an 85-run win over Guernsey, Austria were bowled out for 35 in the ongoing Women's Continental Cup 2026. At Ilfov County, Turkey wrapped up the match in 82 deliveries, chasing down the target in just 5.3 overs.

Austria’s batting collapse

It was a rain-curtailed game of 10 overs per side. Turkey skipper Kubra Canavarci won the toss and opted to bowl first. In the first over, Austria captain Priya Sabu got bowled by Ezgi Nur Kilic for a two-ball duck. In the second over, Ashi Chopla was run out for a two-ball duck. Then, wicketkeeper-batter Hadia Siddiqui got knocked over by Hacer Celik in the third over.

Opener Komati Reddy and Sheetal Bhardwaj shared a 20-run partnership. Canavarci broke the partnership with Reddy's wicket. She scored eight runs from 19 balls. The Turkish bowler followed it up with Mallika Pathirannehelage's wicket. In the same over Pravitha Ganeshan fell as well. In the next over, Celik struck thrice to dismiss Vera Poglitsch, Prithaa Ganeshan and Anjuman Hira for ducks. Celik bagged four wickets from just two overs.

Then, Sheetal Bhardwaj was run out by Gulhatun Keles as Austria were bowled out for 35 in 8.1 overs. No batter scored in double digits. This is Austria’s lowest score in T20Is. 

Turkey’s big win

In the run chase, Canavarci fell for a four-ball duck to Mallika. She dismissed the other opener Suzan Turan in her second over. But, Zehra Ender and Mellike Bayram finished the run chase in 5.3 overs, winning the rain-curtailed game with 27 balls to spare and eight wickets in hand. Ender scored 13 runs from 12 deliveries. Bayram hit the only six of the innings in her 11-run knock.

Turkey on top in standings

The win helped Turkey rise to the top of the points table (Group A). Austria still remain in the second spot as they registered a big win in their campaign opener. Each team from the two groups will qualify for the final on August 30. On the same day, third place play-off will be played as well.
