The cricketing rivalry between India and Pakistan is unparalleled, with its roots tracing back to their first face-off in 1992. In the history of the ICC ODI World Cup, these two cricketing giants have locked horns seven times, with India triumphing in each encounter. The world's cricket fans have their eyes fixed on the upcoming match, with Pakistan eager to rewrite history and India looking to uphold its unbeaten record against its neighbours.

So far in the World Cup 2023, India has showcased its mettle with a commendable six-wicket victory over Australia in Chennai and an impressive win against Afghanistan. Pakistan, conversely, had a somewhat unsteady beginning with a narrow win over the Netherlands but bounced back by spectacularly chasing down a target against Sri Lanka, setting a new World Cup record in the process.

When comparing both teams, while their batters seem to be on equal footing, it's in the bowling department that India seems to have a slight advantage. Jasprit Bumrah has been spearheading the Indian bowling attack, claiming six wickets thus far. Pakistan's ace bowler, Shaheen Shah Afridi, has yet to hit peak form, having managed only two wickets in the tournament while giving away 103 runs in 16 overs.

In a conversation with Fox Cricket, Shastri highlighted the anticipated electrifying ambiance in Ahmedabad for the match. He asserted India's position as the clear favourites, underscoring that for Pakistan to pull off an upset, they would need to deliver an exceptional, top-notch performance on the game day.

"It's going to be a madhouse," Shastri said.

"The biggest crowd of the tournament will be there, the energy and the atmosphere will be electric.

"I believe India start as clear favourites. Pakistan will have to bring their real A++++ game if they want to upset India, which they can. We know how unpredictable they can be," he added.
