Head became the fourth player in the world to win the M.O.M award in both the semi-final and final of a World Cup.

Australia clinched the ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2023 title on November 19, defeating India in a gripping final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Chasing a target of 241, the Australian team accomplished the feat in 43 overs, losing only four wickets, largely due to Travis Head's remarkable 137-run innings that left millions of Indian fans heartbroken. Head's performance made him the third Australian and seventh overall batsman to score a century in a World Cup final.

Head's single-handedly led Australia to their record sixth ODI World Cup victory, earning him the Player of the Match award. His achievement has brought a seven-year-old tweet by Australian spin legend Shane Warne into the spotlight. In December 2016, Warne had predicted Head's future success in all formats of the game for Australia, a prophecy that seems to have come true.

'I'm a big fan of Travis Head as a cricketer, I believe he will be a future star for Australia in all forms of the game," Warne had written on X, formerly Twitter.

Interestingly, Head had missed the first five matches of World Cup 2023 due to injury but made a stunning debut against New Zealand in Dharamshala, scoring a century and warning other teams of his potential. Before the final against India, Head was the top run-scorer for Australia in their semi-final match against South Africa, scoring a quick 62 off 48 balls, for which he was named Player of the Match.

In the final, Head's outstanding performance earned him the Player of the Match award again, making him the fourth player in the world to win the award in both the semi-final and final of a World Cup. He joins the ranks of Mohinder Amarnath (1983), Aravinda de Silva (1996), and Shane Warne (1999) in achieving this unique feat. His pivotal role in Australia's World Cup triumph solidifies his status as one of the prominent players in the cricketing world.
