Star Australian pacer Pat Cummins recreated a historic moment after taking a hat-trick against Bangladesh in match 44 of the ongoing edition of the T20 World Cup 2024 which was being played at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua, on June 21 (Friday). Cummins is the second Aussie bowler to take a hat-trick in the mega tournament. Brett Lee also took a hat-trick in the inaugural season of the T20 World Cup, he was also the first-ever bowler to take a hat-trick in T20I cricket. The common coincidence is that both Aussie pacers named this epic feat in front of their name during the clash against Bangladesh. However, it took 17 years for another Australian bowler to claim a hat-trick in T20 World Cup.
Cummins' Hat-trick
Pat Cummins' epic hat-trick came across two overs. He took two wickets by the end of the 18th over when he dismissed Mahmudullah and Mahedi Hasan respectively. He came to bowl the 20th over and got the wicket of Towhid Hirdoy on the very first ball to claim his first-ever T20I hat-trick.
Cummins is also the fourth Australian bowler to take a T20I hat-trick and 7th bowler in history with a T20 World Cup hat-trick. This has been a day of celebration for the star cricketer as before the start of the match, he even received the ICC Men's Cricketer of the Year 2023 trophy from Ricky Ponting.
