The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is currently facing a lot of criticism after the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) announced the schedule of the Asia Cup 2025. The intercontinental tournament will start from September 9, where India and Pakistan are in the part of same group and will face each other potentially three times. The first clash between India and Pakistan will take place on September 14.
Manoj Tiwary for India-Pakistan Asia Cup 2025 clash
Former India cricketer Manoj Tiwary questioned how Team India can play Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack and with the Operation Sindoor to counter cross-border terrorism.
“The situation was so bad, how can we think of an India-Pakistan match? I feel that it should be considered again and the India-Pakistan match should not happen in such an environment,” Tiwary said, speaking on ANI.
This will be the first time that India and Pakistan will face each other since Operation Sindoor, which was conducted by the Indian armed forces in Pakistan against cross-border terrorism.
“Our Prime Minister is saying that Operation Sindoor is still going on. How can we play a match with Pakistan?” Tiwary asked.
BCCI withdrew from the Women's Asia Cup
Both India and Pakistan were scheduled to face each other in the Women’s Asia Cup for emerging players last month. However, BCCI withdrew from the tournament after the Pahalgam terror attack.

How India and Pakistan face each other 3 times in the Asia Cup 2025
Since arch-rivals India and Pakistan are part of the same group, both teams can potentially face each other three times, once in the league stage, next in the Super 4 round and then possibly in the final.
Why Asia Cup 2025 taking place in the T20I format
The last edition of the Asia Cup in 2023 was played in ODI format, and the upcoming edition will take place in T20 format. The tournament will take place in T20 format because it is considered a rehearsal for the ICC World Cup, and considering next year's Twenty20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka, the mega event will also take place in T20.
