Pakistan skipper Babar Azam climbed one place to third in ICC T20I batter rankings despite criticism around his form in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. Pakistan opener Mohammad Rizwan who scored a half-century against Canada slipped to fourth position.
Surya remains on top
Suryakumar Yadav remained at the top even though he lost rating points due to dismal show in the marquee event so far. There were a few other changes as well. England skipper Jos Buttler occupied the fifth spot, West Indies opener Brandon King moved to seventh position as out-of-form South Africa skipper Aiden Markram slipped three places to eighth.
Big leaps in batter rankings
There is a new addition in the top 10. Australia opener Travis Head jumped six positions to 10th as South Africa's Rilee Rssouw slipped to 11th place. Afghanistan Rahmanullah Gurbaz made giant strides as well. The Afghan wicketkeeper-batter jumped eight places to 12th. Another major change is West Indies’ Johnson Charles moving up six places to 19th.
Big changes in top 10
Indian players slipped several places in the bowler rankings. Afghanistan skipper Rashid Khan and South Africa's Anrich Nortje moved up four places each to third and fourth respectively. Afghanistan left-arm pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi moved six places up to match Nortje's rating points. Josh Hazlewood slipped one place to sixth despite good performances. India's left-arm spinner Axar Patel dropped four places to seventh.
Massive leaps in bowler rankings too
Ravi Bishnoi found himself slipping six places to no.10 as he is not a part of India's T20 World Cup 2024 squad. West Indies' left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein now occupies the eighth place whereas Sri Lankan spinner Maheesh Theekshana moved down three places to ninth. Two places who made massive leaps are Bangladesh's Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed. Rahman moved 10 places up to 13th whereas Taskin moved to 19th spot as he went up eight places.
South Africa, Pakistan interchange places
There was just one change in the top of team rankings in format. Pakistan after two losses slipped to seventh place. South Africa who completed a hat-trick of wins to reach Super 8 moved up to sixth place.
