Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf created history with a double-wicket over against Canada in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. Rauf became the third-fastest in the history of T20Is to take 100 wickets. The Pakistan speedster achieved this feat in his 71st game.
He is the second Pakistan bowler to complete 100 T20I wickets. Leg-spinner Shadab Khan was the first to complete 100 wickets for Pakistan in the format.
Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan is the fastest to 100 T20I wickets from 53 games. He is followed by Sri Lankan leggie Wanindu Hasaranga who crossed the 100-wicket mark in the 63rd appearance. Rauf left behind Ireland's Mark Adair and Oman's Bilal Khan who took 72 games to take 100 T20I wickets.
Rauf comes back well
Rauf achieved the feat in the 10th over of Canada's innings after Babar Azam won the toss and opted to field first. He made Shreyas Movva his 100th T20I scalp. Later in the over, he got Ravinderpal Singh for a two-ball duck. Despite conceding 13 runs in his first over, Rauf finished with 26 runs from his quota of four overs.
No over for Shadab
Now, Rauf has 101 wickets from 71 games. On the other hand, Shadab who did not get a single over against Canada has 107 wickets from 103 games. Pakistan’s highest T20I wicket-taker did not bowl against India either.
Johnson's fifty helps Canada cross 100-run mark
Canada opener Aaron Johnson's lone effort helped Canada post 106/7 on the board. Johnson scored 52 runs from 44 balls including four fours and four sixes. He got bowled by Naseem Shah in the 14th over. Apart from Johnson, none of the top six batters scored in double digits. Skipper Saad Bin Zafar struggled to score. He took 21 balls to score 10 runs. Kaleem Sama remained not out for 14-ball 13 alongside Dillon Heyliger who contributed nine runs to the total.
