Pakistan's star pacer Mohammad Amir is facing a visa delay ahead of the upcoming Ireland tour. Babar Azam-led side is set to compete against Ireland in a three-match T20I series starting from May 10. As the Men in Green get ready to fly for the clash against the Irish team, they will be without their premium pacer Amir, who is still waiting for visa approval from the authorities and as per PCB sources, it is due to jail time in his spot-fixing case.
Mohammad Amir face visa issues
After the spot-fixing case in 2010, Amir's imprisonment and subsequent ban have come back to haunt him. Amir faced the visa issue earlier in 2018 as well due to this same issue but the board is certain that it will be resolved soon. The source said that Amir could possibly join Pakistan in Ireland in the following two or three days.
"Because of the spot-fixing case of 2010 and his subsequent jail term and ban his visa is still being processed. We are hopeful he will get his visa in a day or two and he can join them later," the source said according to PTI.
This is a crucial tour for Pakistan as this and the England tour are to help Men in Green prepare for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. They will also be sorting out their 15-member squad for the mega tournament from these series. The team will be hoping that Amir's visa issues are resolved soon and he won't face any issues with his US Visa as that can be a major blow to the former champions.
