Delhi Capitals (DC) speedster Avesh Khan will stay back in UAE after the completion of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 as a net bowler for Indian contingent for upcoming T20 World Cup. Avesh has been asked Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to stay back and if there is an opportunity, he may be included in the squad for the mega event.

Alongside the DC frontline bowler, Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) sensational batting all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer may also stay back in UAE as cover if required.

Avesh has been DC’s most successful bowler in the ongoing IPL 2021 taking 23 wickets from 15 games. The 24-year-old is also the second in race for purple cap after Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) Harshal Patel, who has taken 32 wickets from 15 games.

Earlier, Avesh was also travelled to England as standby bowler for the five-Test series. However, the pacer fractured his finger during a practice match against a county team and had to return home.

On the other hand, Venkatesh has played a major role in the turnaround of KKR in the second phase of the season scoring 265 runs from eight games at an average of 37.85 including two half-centuries. The left-handed batter has been handy with his right-arm pace bowling as well for Eoin Morgan. The batting all-rounder has taken three wickets in the season so far.
