Regular India opener Rohit Sharma, who came in to bat at No.3 in the do-or-die T20 World Cup contest against New Zealand, whacked a maximum to mark his arrival in the middle. The 34-year-old batter picked Adam Milne's loose delivery to dispatch one into the stands, registering the Indian camp's first six of the night.

Rohit's stay at the crease, however, was short-lived as he perished after scoring run-a-ball 14. A mistimed shot off Ish Sodhi towards long-on led to Rohit's dismissal as India slumped to 40/3 in no time.

En route his 14-ball cameo, the swashbuckling batter added another feather to his already illustrious hat. Rohit now has 83 sixes in T20 Internationals -- the most by any player in the format. He surpassed Martin Guptill on the list, who had 82 maximums under his belt.

India endured a shaky start against New Zealand, losing three early wickets including Rohit at the start. Ishan Kishan, who came in the Playing XI in place of Suryakumar Yadav, perished in early for 4. KL Rahul tried to help India recover from the early setback before Tim Southee removed him for 18 at the stroke of Powerplay.

Birthday boy Sodhi also removed Virat Kohli to strike India with another blow. A floated-up delivery tempted Kohli to go for a slog-sweep before Trent Boult pouched it safely at the boundary rope.
