Hazlewood has declared he wants to maintain his bowling intensity after a successful return to Test cricket

Josh Hazlewood has provided his update on Kagiso Rabada’s injury ahead of the Test series and the possibility of him not being able to play in the upcoming tournament. The South African cricketer’s hopes of playing a key role in South Africa's World Test Championship title defence have been hit by an unfortunate injury.

The fast bowler was recently forced to withdraw from next month’s ODI series against Australia, and is now uncertain for the three-Test series as well following a hamstring injury. Meanwhile, Hazlewood has spoken on the uncertainty and Rabada’s recovery ahead of the highly awaited tournament.

When asked about the situation, Hazlewood, as per Cricinfo, said:

"We don't know exactly how bad the hamstring is.”

The Australian fast bowler added:

"He seems to recover from any sort of niggle pretty quickly. He's an unbelievable athlete. So I guess we don't think about it too much this far out.”

Hazlewood continued:

“Things will become clearer as we get closer. But I'm sure the batters will rather face someone else than KG."

Meanwhile, Hazlewood has declared he wants to maintain his bowling intensity after a successful return to Test cricket. Having been absent from the longest format for more than a year, the Aussie star claimed seven wickets in the first Test against Bangladesh in Darwin.

Hazlewood continued to bowl impressively in the subsequent match in Mackay, even though he finished with only one wicket. Speaking after the series, Hazlewood said the best approach for him is to play as much as he reasonably can.

The Australian star is expected to feature in Australia’s upcoming ODI squads for tours of Zimbabwe and South Africa. He plans to play two of the three matches in each series as he builds towards the Test series in South Africa in October.
