India will go into the World Cup 2023 having played no warm-up matches.

Rain followed India in World Cup 2023 warm-up fixtures. Their second warm-up game against the Netherlands was abandoned without a ball being bowled at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati on October 3. In both warm-up games of India, not a single ball was bowled.

It seems like the three-ODI series at home against Australia will work as their warm-up games leading up to the World Cup. In the previous clash against defending champions England at least the toss took place before the rain played spoilsport. In the India versus Netherlands game, the clouds hovered over the stadium and it led to a washout.

India will take on Australia in their campaign opener at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on October 8. India had recently beat Australia 2-1 in the ODI series. On the other hand, the Netherlands will go up against Pakistan at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad on October 6.

The Netherlands’ first game was affected by rain as well. They faced Australia in a 23-over-per-side game where Steve Smith scored a half-century while opening the innings and Mitchell Starc took a hat-trick with the new ball. While the Netherlands were struggling in the run chase with six wickets in hand, the game ended in no result as rain had the last say.
