ICC Women's WC 2022: 31 matches to be played across 31 days; know the complete schedule of Women's World Cup

The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022 is scheduled to commence on March 4 at the Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui. In the opening fixture, hosts New Zealand will take on West Indies. A total of 31 matches will be played across 31 days. Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin, Hamilton, Tauranga, and Wellington will be the six cities in New Zealand that will host the prestigious tournament.

The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022 is scheduled to commence on March 4 at the Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui. In the opening fixture, hosts New Zealand will take on West Indies. A total of 31 matches will be played across 31 days. Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin, Hamilton, Tauranga, and Wellington will be the six cities in New Zealand that will host the prestigious tournament.

 

The format

At the initial stage, all the eight teams will face each other in a league format and after the completion of the league stage, top four teams will qualify for the semi-final.

 

The first semi-final match is scheduled to be played at the Basin Reserve in Wellington on March 30. On the other hand, the Hagley Oval in Christchurch will host the second semi-final match, on March 31. 

 

The grand final match will be played on April 3, at the Hagley Oval, in Christchurch. Both the semi-finals and the finals are expected to have a reserve day in place. 

 

New rule

In a major development and in order to deal with the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, International Cricket Council (ICC) on February 24, said that all the matches at the Women's ODI World Cup could be played with nine players if a team get hit by the Covid-19 virus.

 

On March 5, defending champions England will play against Australia at the Seddon Park, in Hamilton.

 

In the first set of fixtures, one more high voltage clash will take place as on March 6 arch-rivals India and Pakistan will take on each other at the Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui.

 

Hosts New Zealand will face last edition’s finalist India, on March 10 at the Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui.

 

Repetition of last WC's final

Last edition’s final match will be repeated again when India and England will face each other on March 16, at the Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui.

 

Last edition’s finalist India and semi-finalist Australia will face each other in a nail-biting clash on March 19, at the Eden Park, in Auckland.

 

In the final match of the group stage, the Mithali Raj-led Indian team will take on South Africa on March 28, at the Hagley Oval, in Christchurch.
