Amanjot Kaur revealed Harmanpreet Kaur's message to Indian team before World Cup final

India came out on top in Women's World Cup final over South Africa

India all-rounder Amanjot Kaur revealed that skipper Harmanpreet Kaur had tried to motivate the Indian team hours before the Women's World Cup final against South Africa. She had reminded the team that they cannot afford to lose this time around and requested them to give their 100% on the field during the match.

Haramnpreet, who was present in the Indian team when they suffered the heartbreaking defeat to England in the 2017 World Cup final, wanted the team to not experience another failure like that. That is why she called each of her teammates to give them one last boost before the match.

“It had been more difficult for her because the highs and lows that she has seen are something that we haven’t. To lose by small margins isn’t good and she had said this time around that she doesn’t want to lose out by a small margin; everyone will have to go all out. We were just counting the wickets and not keeping an eye on what the score was," Amanjot told media after the match.

Amanjot's views on her stunning catch in the final

Meanwhile, Amanjot also reflected on the mind-blowing catch that she pulled off during the final against South Africa and said that it was indeed the toughest catch of her career so far. Notably, she took the catch that dismissed the centurion Laura Wolvaardt and saw the momentum completely shift towards India. Amanjot juggled the catch thrice before clutching it firmly with one hand.

“My god, it was the toughest catch of my life. I have never fumbled before, either I have taken them or spilt them. There has been nothing in between, but for the first time god gave me three chances," Amanjot stated.

Amanjot's successful WC campaign

On the other hand, Amanjot had a great World Cup campaign. She contributed well in both the batting and bowling departments and played a key role in the Women in Blue's triumph in the tournament. The 25-year-old finished the competition with 146 runs and six wickets from seven innings. Amanjot, who has only played 16 ODIs so far has now definitely become a key player in the format's set-up for India.
