Dewald Brevis produced a masterclass in power-hitting as South Africa bounced back in style, brushing aside Zimbabwe by seven wickets in the second match of the T20I Tri-Series at the Namibia Cricket Ground in Windhoek. Chasing a target of 145, the Proteas made light work of the task, reaching 146/3 with 38 balls to spare, courtesy of Brevis' explosive, unbeaten 75 off just 32 deliveries.

After electing to bat first, Zimbabwe struggled to build sustained momentum against a disciplined South African bowling unit. Opening batter Brian Bennett top-scored with a steady 34 off 35 balls, while Ben Curran provided a spark at the top with a brisk 24 off 12 deliveries.

Duan Jansen breaks Zimbabwe batters' back

Middle-order contributions remained modest as Sikandar Raza (10) and Ryan Burl (4) were restricted by tight overs from South Africa's spin tandem of Bjorn Fortuin (1/25) and Prenelan Subrayen (2/27). A late, aggressive cameo from wicketkeeper Tadiwanashe Marumani, who smashed 30 off 13 balls featuring three towering sixes—helped propel Zimbabwe past the 140-mark, finishing on 144/8 in their allotted 20 overs. Duan Jansen was the pick of the seamers for South Africa, taking 3 for 45.

South Africa’s pursuit began with intent as openers Lhuan-dre Pretorius (22 off 13) and Jordan Hermann (20 off 13) set a rapid tempo during the Powerplay. However, once Brevis walked in at number three, the match transformed into a one-sided affair.

Displaying his trademark clean striking, the young right-hander dismantled the Zimbabwean attack, clearing the boundary ropes six times alongside seven hits to the fence. Neither Zimbabwe's experienced skipper Sikandar Raza nor pace spearhead Blessing Muzarabani could halt the onslaught, with Brevis operating at a striking rate of 234.38.

Tony de Zorzi contributed 15 before departing, but Rubin Hermann (11*) joined Brevis to complete the final formalities. Brevis fittingly sealed the match in the 14th over, driving a boundary through the off-side to cap off a Player of the Match-winning performance and secure South Africa's first win of the tri-series in dominant fashion.
