Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues notched a towering 167-run partnership in Women's World Cup semis

This was apparently the highest partnership for India women in World Cup knockouts

A monumental partnership between Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues provided the backbone of India's innings during the crucial Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 semi-final against Australia in Navi Mumbai. While chasing Australia's massive 339-run target, the duo combined for a massive 167-run stand, which instantly broke two significant records. It is now the highest partnership for India in any World Cup knockout match, and simultaneously, the highest partnership ever forged against Australia in a World Cup knockout game.

Harmanpreet-Jemimah's towering partnership busts records

This stellar performance continues a legacy of strong partnerships for Harmanpreet Kaur in crucial World Cup fixtures. It surpasses her own notable effort in the 2017 semi-final, where she and Deepti Sharma stitched together a 137-run stand that propelled India to the final. Kaur's consistency in high-pressure matches is evident, as she also contributed to a 95-run partnership with Punam Raut in the 2017 final and a 66-run stand with Mithali Raj in that year's semi-final. Looking beyond knockout matches, India's notable efforts against Australia include Mithali Raj and Punam Raut's 157-run stand in 2017 and Smriti Mandhana's 155-run partnership with Pratika Rawal earlier in the 2025 tournament.

The 167-run effort by Kaur and Rodrigues is a rare feat in the tournament's history, marking only the sixth instance of a 150-plus partnership in a Women's World Cup knockout game. Interestingly, the five previous instances were all achieved by Australia, including a 155-run partnership between Phoebe Litchfield and Ellyse Perry earlier in the very same semi-final, highlighting the high scoring nature of the day.
