On her 24th birthday, Australian pacer Annabel Sutherland achieved a remarkable and unique milestone in women's cricket: she became the first woman cricketer ever to take a five-wicket haul in a Women's ODI on her birthday.

Sutherland's stellar performance proved crucial for the Aussies in Visakhapatnam. Despite India starting strongly with a 155-run opening partnership between Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal, Sutherland did not let the hosts capitalize. She helped dismantle the Indian innings, which at one point stood at a commanding 234/2, ultimately bowling them out for 330. Her impressive final figures were 5/40 in 9.5 overs. The only male cricketer to achieve a similar feat in an ODI on his birthday is Afghanistan spin sensation, Rashid Khan, who did so against South Africa last year.

Sutherland picked a crucial World Cup clash against India to bag her first-ever five-wicket haul. She is now only the third Australian woman to record a five-wicket haul in the Women's World Cup. Her figures of 5/40 are the third-best by an Aussie during an ICC Women's World Cup, sitting behind T Macpherson (5/14 in 1973) and LA Fullston (5/27).

Annabel Sutherland reached a significant personal milestone during the match by taking her 50th wicket in Women's ODIs, all while securing her career-best bowling figures of 5/40.

In the match itself, Australia won the toss and elected to bowl first. India's openers, Pratika Rawal (75 off 96 balls, including 10 fours and a six) and Smriti Mandhana (80 off 66 balls, with nine fours and three sixes), laid a commanding foundation with an incredible 155-run opening stand.

However, despite this powerful start that had India at a fine position of 234/2, the team could not fully capitalize. Australia's bowling attack, led by the five-wicket haul from Annabel Sutherland (5/40) and supported by Sophie Molineux (3/75), managed to take wickets at regular intervals during the latter part of the innings.

India clock colossal 330-run total

Following the exploits of Mandhana and Rawal, batters like skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (22 off 17), Jemimah Rodrigues (33 off 21), and Richa Ghosh (32 off 22) all played aggressive, attacking innings but failed to convert their starts into major scores. The disciplined bowling from Sutherland and Molineux ultimately triggered a collapse, taking India from 234/2 in 36.2 overs to being all out for 330 in 48.5 overs.
