Inglis has a T20I century against India.

Australia captain Mitchell Marsh has confirmed that wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis is fit and ready to go after missing the recently concluded three-ODI series against India. Inglis has recovered from calf strain which he sustained during South Africa series at home. Marsh revealed his batting position for the tour too.

"Yep, Inglis is fit and available. We’re obviously wrapped to have him back, he’s a very important player for us. I’d say he’ll bat at four. There’s one player we’ll follow up on, but yeah, he’s ready to go," said Marsh in the pre-series press conference in Canberra.

Marsh’s Australia ready for aggressive approach

Marsh also talked about the need to play aggressively after two underwhelming T20 World Cups. Marsh said that his team is not afraid to face failure but they have a clear approach on how they’ll play T20 cricket.

"We had two World Cups where we didn't quite go all the way. And I guess we spoke about wanting to challenge ourselves as a team to what we think can win us to the World Cup," Marsh said.

"As a batting unit, we have played a lot more aggressively. I think that's been the nature of T20 cricket for a lot of teams over the last few years.

"But yeah, if you look towards the World Cup in India, that's certainly the way we're going to play. We're not going to get it right every time. We will fail. But we're clear on how we want to go about it. That gives us the best chance for success. And hopefully that's the case as we keep building."

Australia’s T20I record since T20 World Cup 2024

Marsh’s Australia have been in splendid form in T20s. From 19 games since T20 World Cup 2024, Australia have won 16, lost two whereas one ended in no result.
