India are set to face a daunting task on Day 5 of the fourth Test at Melbourne Cricket Ground. The hosts already have a 333-run lead in the bag and India will need a Gabba-esque performance to pull off a win. Before the run chase, a look at India's five highest successful run chase
 

5. In 2001, India chased down a target of 264 with 7 wickets in hand. Captain Sourav Ganguly remained unbeaten for 98 in the run chase. He had support from Rahul Dravid who scored 75. Sanath Jayasuriya's side lost the Test in Kandy on Day 4.
 

4. In 2011, half-centuries from Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman helped India chase down 276 with 5 wickets in hand in Delhi against West Indies. Laxman remained unbeaten for 58 in the run chase. Earlier, Pragyan Ojha and R Ashwin bagged their respective six-fers in first and second innings.

At the iconic Gabba, Brisbane, Shubman Gill's 91 and Cheteshwar Pujara's patient 56 was followed by Rishabh Pant's unbeaten 89 as India chased down 328 and clinched a three-wicket win and the series win. In 2021, a depleted Indian squad outplayed Pat Cummins' Australia and breached the Gabba fortress.
 

2. Sachin Tendulkar scored an unbeaten century whereas Yuvraj Singh remained not out for 85 as India chased down a target of 387 against Kevin Pietersen's England in Chennai in 2008. Openers Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag scored centuries too. India won the Test by six wickets. This is India's highest run chase at home.
 

1. India's highest successful run chase came against the mighty West Indies in 1976. Against Clive Lloyd-led side, India chased down 403. Sunil Gavaskar and Gundappa Viswanath scored centuries whereas Mohinder Amarnath contributed with an 85-run knock. Brijesh Patel's unbeaten 49 led India to a 6-wicket win over West Indies in Port of Spain.
 

India's highest score at MCG is 195 which came in 1999. Sachin Tendulkar's century and fifty went in vain as Australia won by 180 runs. In the run chase of 376, India were bowled out for 195. India's highest successful run chase of 70 came in 2020.
