Pant hinted at the bowling combination India can use for the third Test

India vice-captain Rishabh Pant has so far been fantastic with the bat in the ongoing series against England. The wicketkeeper-batter scored tons in both the innings of the first Test at Headingley and followed that up with a fiery knock of 65 in India's second innings at Edgbaston. The 27-year-old has already hit 342 runs in the first two matches of the series and it remains to be seen if he can maintain this form in the upcoming games.

India used different bowling combinations in first two Tests against England

Ahead of the Lord's Test which is set to commence from July 10, Pant participated in a press-conference where he hinted about the bowling combination that the Men in Blue may choose for the third match of the series. Notably, Shubman Gill & Co. went with four pacers and a spinner for the first Test before changing the combination to four seamers and two turners for the second match.

Pant stated that the team management will make the final decision soon, but added that they can either go for three pacers and two spinners or three seamers and one turner.

"Whether we will go in with three fast bowlers and two spinners or three fast bowlers and 1 spinner, we will decide tomorrow but options are open," Pant said during the pre-match press-conference.

With the series level at 1-1, Pant expressed that the Men in Blue need to be at the top of their game in the upcoming match whether the momentum is on their side or not. India do not have a great record at Lord's, having won on just three occasions in the 19 Tests that they have played at the venue, so they undoubtedly will have to give a fine all-round performance in order to script a famous victory.

"When you have momentum on your side, you want a short turnaround. But we aren’t too fussed about it, we need to play good cricket," Pant stated.

Meanwhile, the victory at Edgbaston was India's first victory at the venue in history. The Men in Blue had played a total of seven Tests at the venue before but had never emerged victorious. Previously, their best result was a draw which came way back in 1986. However, they managed to put the painful past behind them on this occasion and win the match comprehensively by 336 runs.
