India batter Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a blistering century on the third day of fifth Test against England at Kennington Oval. The left-hander brought up a 127-ball ton to get the Men in Blue to a lead of almost 200 runs. This ton can prove to be quite important for the visitors, who are now aiming to post a huge target on the board for the hosts.
Jaiswal has had a great tour with the bat
The 23-year-old has now got six centuries under his belt in red-ball cricket and four of them have come against the Three Lions, making them the team that the left-hander has dominated against the most. This was also Jaiswal's second ton of the series and he will now be looking to post an even bigger score as the match progresses. Additionally, he has also scored two half-centuries in the tour, maintaining a great form throughout the five Tests.
This hundred couldn't have come at a better time for India as it will come in handy for them in order to put up a big target for England. Jaiswal's last ton in the format came in the first Test of the ongoing series against England where he played a sensational knock of 101 runs from 159 deliveries at Headingley to help the side get to a humongous first-inning total of 471 for the visitors.
Meanwhile, Day 3 has so far been good for India as before Jaiswal's ton, Akash Deep, who had been sent to the crease as a night-watchman on the second day, ended up playing a heroic knock of 66 runs to add to England's problems and take the Men in Blue's lead over the 100-run mark. Captain Shubman Gill was the next batter to step out and he was expected to form a big partnership alongside Jaiswal.
However, Gill who had a fantastic series and scored a ton of runs against the Three Lions, ended up falling cheaply for 11 in his final inning of the tour. The 25-year-old lost his wicket to Gus Atkinson on the first delivery of the second session , finishing the series with 754 runs in 10 innings, maintaining a stunning average of 75.40.
