Shubman Gill-led India has suffered a massive blow as the vice captain Rishabh Pant, who was looking set in the fourth Test match against England at Emirates Old Trafford Stadium in Manchester, had to leave the field after getting an injury in his right foot. 

The incident happened 68th over, bowled by Chris Woakes. The wicketkeeper batter attempted a premeditated reverse sweep and got hit flush on the boot. The bowler appealed for LBW, but he was not out. Meanwhile, the wicketkeeper batter was in a lot of pain after getting the blow. After getting injured, the wicketkeeper batter Pant, who was playing on 37 runs, was forced to leave the field via a cabby ambulance to the medical room at the venue. 

Blood was seen seeping off Pant's right foot, and the affected area had considerable swelling as well. More details of his latest injury is awaited.

This was the second injury for Pant in this series as he had bruised his finger while keeping during the third Test at Lord’s, which prevented him from guarding the stumps in England’s second innings. Dhruv Jurel had kept the wickets then as a substitute.
 

Coming back to the fourth Test, after being asked to bat, India's openers were off to a good start as KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal stitched a 94-run stand for the second wicket. However, the hosts made a comeback after Lunch as they removed a well-set opening duo of KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal before sending back Shubman Gill to leave India at 149 for three. Pant, who joined Sai Sudharsan for the total managed stitch, a 72 stand, before suffering the huge blow.
