BCCI shared a video on social media where head coach Gautam Gambhir can be seen congratulating the side after the series ended in a 2-2 draw.
"The way the series has panned out, 2-2 is an outstanding result, congratulations to everyone. So remember we keep getting better. We keep working hard, we keep improving ideas because if we keep doing that we can dominate tests for a very long period of time. People will come and go. But the culture of the dressing room should always be like people want to be part of this culture. That is what good luck, enjoy yourself. You can take a couple of days off, and you deserve every bit of it. You guys have achieved. You deserve every attention," said Gautam Gambhir.
After Gambhir's speech, veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja handed over the Impact Player of the Series award to Washington Sundar for his performance. After Sunder received his medal, the whole dressing room started hooting for his speech.
"Obviously, it's a great blessing to be playing four games on the Trot in our place. Always wanted to do really well here and as a team. Just the way we went about every single day was amazing. The energy that we created, especially from the fielding perspective, the energy we created. We were always there for each other. Thank you so much for everything" said Sundar.
Sundar, who made his Test debut against Australia in Brisbane in 2021, played four Tests against England, where he managed to score 284 runs, including an unbeaten century in the fourth Test match alongside Ravindra Jadeja, which was ended in a draw. He also picked up seven wickets, including a four-wicket haul in Lords Test.
