England won against India at Lord's by 22 runs

IND vs ENG Test: Former England captain Nasser Hussain was all praise for India's tailenders who showcased incredible resilience and grit during the fifth day of the Lord's Test. The likes of Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj gave a magnificent effort with the bat and managed to take the visitors within touching distance of completing one of their best run-chases in history. However, in the end the Men in Blue fell just 22 runs short of the target of 193.

England took a valuable lead in the series ahead of the fourth Test

Siraj was the final wicket that fell for India as England rejoiced after recording a hard-fought victory on the final day of the Test. This win saw the hosts take a valuable 2-1 lead in the series ahead of the fourth match. If they do win the upcoming game in Manchester, then the hosts will seal the series even before playing the fifth and final match.

Hussain remarked that the match at Lord's was some of the best Test cricket that he had seen in a while and even went on to say that the Men in Blue didn't deserve to lose after their tailenders put in such an extraordinary effort with the bat.

"That was a great advert for five-day Test cricket. It was hard-fought, at times feisty, but in the end played within the spirit of the game. You saw at the end there the England players going up to the two India players in the middle. A bit like 2005 when Andrew Flintoff went up to Brett Lee at the non-striker's end at Edgbaston," Hussain said on Sky Sports.

"Jadeja and the India tailenders showed so much character and so much fight, they did not deserve to be on the losing side. That was the best five days of Test cricket I have seen in some time," he added.

Jadeja ended up remaining unbeaten on 61 off 181 deliveries and tried his best to take India over the finish line, however all the other players from the team lost their wickets. The Men in Blue could only manage to put up 170 runs on the board before getting bundled out as every batter except KL Rahul from the top and middle-order flopped badly. After dominating against England with the bat in the first two Tests, the Indian batting order failed to impress in the third match. They will be hoping to go back to their previous form with the bat in the fourth Test which is set to commence from July 23.
