Underwhelming batting performance from India

Winning the toss, England skipper Harry Brook asked the Indian team to bat first. However, the decision from Brook turned out to be perfect as India's batting order suffered several hiccups during the first innings. Star opener Abhishek Sharma continued his fine form with his sublime 43 runs, while Ishan Kishan tried to find some rhythm with his rusty 49 and skipper Shreyas Iyer managed to amass only 37 runs.

However England's bowlers managed to maintain their discipline, with Sam Curran turning out to be their standout performer, claiming 3/33 through his clever use of variations. A late finishing effort from Tilak Varma, who stayed unbeaten on 24 off just 11 deliveries and gathered 17 runs off the final over to guide India reach 190/7.

England's comfortable run chase

In response, England got off to a shaky start, with Arshdeep Singh dismissing Phil Salt and Jos Buttler on cheap scores. However, Harry Brook played a counter-attacking knock of 39 runs off just 15 balls before Axar Patel, who was India's standout bowler with 1/19, cut short his charge. Jacob Bethell then took control of the chase, staying not-out on 76 off 46 and stitching a key 67-run partnership with Tom Banton, who scored 39.

India tried to tighten their grip over the game, but Ravi Bishnoi's expensive 17th over, worth 29 runs and consisting of two no-balls, took the game away from the  Men in Blue before Bethell finished it off with an over remaining.
