South Africa all-rounder Chris Morris has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket on Tuesday (January 11). The former Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajashtan Royals' player took to Instagram to make the announcement just before the IPL 2022 mega auction.
“Today I announce my retirement from all forms of cricket! Thanks to all who have played a part in my journey whether it be big or small…it’s been a fun ride! Delighted to be taking up a role at Titans Cricket," wrote Morris in his Instagram post.
Records were shattered at the auction of players for the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) when South African cricketer Chris Morris became the most expensive player in the history of the IPL, picked up for a whopping INR 16.25 crore by Rajasthan Royals.
Morris played for Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings franchises in the IPL.
He turned out to be the biggest beneficiary among South African cricketers in the IPL when he was bought by Chennai Super Kings for a whopping Rs 3.32 crore in the 2013 players' auction.
The 34-year-old represented South Africa in 42 ODIs, 23 T20Is, and 4 Test matches after making his debut in 2012. He bagged 94 wickets and has scored 2912 runs across all formats for his side.
