Cameron Green isn't sure about his batting position for The Ashes

The Ashes to commence from November 21 in Australia

Australia all-rounder Cameron Green will make a return to bowling for the ffirst time since undergoing a spine surgery in October last year which saw him miss the Border-Gavaskar series 2024/25 against India. The 26-year-old will get back to bowling in the Sheffield Shield, ahead of Australia's Test summer which will begin with the five-match series against arch-rivals England.

Green may be making a comeback with the ball, however there is uncertainty over his place in the batting order. After steopping out to bat in the middle for most of his career, the all-rounder was given the No.3 spot in the order and has played from that position in the Baggy Greens' last four Tests. Though it was a struggle at first, Green improved his performance in the recent red-ball series against West Indies. He recorded scores of 26, 52, 46, and 42 in his last four innings and contributed well to his side's victory in both the Tests.

But, despite this, Green is himself uncertain over his No.3 spot in the batting order for The Ashes opener which will be played in Perth from November 21 later this year.

“You never know. I think there’s certainly a lot of guys that can fill that role. I’m really proud that I was able to do a role up there. But, yeah, wait and see," Green said ahead of the second ODI against South Africa.

Green is a part of Australia's ODI set-up as well

Meanwhile, Green is featuring for Australia in the ongoing three-match ODI series against South Africa. He vwasn't able to make much of an impact in the first match as he got dismissed by Keshav Maharaj after scoring just 3 runs after coming out to bat at No.4. It was quite a disappointing batting display for Australia as a whole and they could only manage to post 198 runs on the board before getting bundled out by the Proteas, who had set up a massive target of 297 for them.

The thumping 98-run victory in the first ODI saw South Africa take a 1-0 lead in the one-day assignment. The Baggy Greens will definitely be looking to bounce back from this thrashing in the second ODI which will be ehld on August 22 at the Great Barrier Reef Arena loacted in Mackay.
