David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen has returned to South Africa's T20I set up after T20 World Cup 2024 final heartbreak

South Africa has announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming four-match T20I series against India. Notably, several senior players, including David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen, are making a comeback to the international stage after a hiatus that began with their heartbreaking loss to India in the final of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 in June. Keshav Maharaj also returned the Proteas' fold.

The South African selection committee has recognised young talent by including 24-year-old Mihlali Mpongwana in the T20I squad for the first time. Mpongwana's impressive performance in the CSA T20 Challenge, where he took 12 wickets at an average of 14.08, earned him a well-deserved spot in the national team.

In a strategic move, South Africa has decided to rest key pacers Kagiso Rabada and Lungi Ngidi for the T20I series. This decision aims to manage their workload and prepare them for the upcoming two-Test series against Sri Lanka in November.

"It's both an exciting and important series for us as we continue to build towards the T20 World Cup in 2026. The squad has a nice mix of youth and experience, and I am looking forward to seeing us deliver some quality performances against a very attacking Indian T20 outfit," said coach Ron Walter in a statement.
