WATCH: Yashasvi Jaiswal run out in bizarre fashion after collision sparks mix-up with KL Rahul

India are playing against Sri Lanka in the ongoing first Test of the two-match series on August 15, at the Galle International Stadium in Galle. India skipper Shubman Gill won the toss and opted to bat first, which turned out to be a fairly decent decision as the opening duo of Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul got off to a solid start.

Unfortunate end for Yashasvi Jaiswal

Unfortunately, Jaiswal's innings came to an unusual end during the opening Test against Sri Lanka in Galle on Saturday after a costly misunderstanding with KL Rahul while running between the wickets. The incident took place after Keshara Nuwantha tossed one up on the stumps, prompting Rahul to push the ball towards mid-on. The Sri Lankan spinner made a diving attempt to intercept it but failed to stop the ball cleanly.

Things became chaotic when Nuwantha tried to stop the ball and made contact with Jaiswal at the non-striker's end. The collision sent the Indian opener to the ground and left him struggling to regain his balance. By then, Rahul had committed to the run and was already midway down the pitch.

Seeing Jaiswal go down, Rahul initially stopped in the middle. However, once Jaiswal gained his balance back and moved forward, Rahul seemingly took it as a sign that his partner was prepared to complete the single. The situation became tricky when Jaiwal changed his decision and tried to make his way back, while Rahul continued towards the same end. With Rahul grounding his bat first, Jaiswal was left outside the crease.
