Ravi Bishnoi hails Suryakumar Yadav and Shubman Gill's captaincy.

India's young spinner Ravi Bishnoi revealed how Suryakumar Yadav and Shubman Gill backed him in the ongoing T20I series against Sri Lanka. He was the pick of the bowlers in the second T20I against the island nation by picking three wickets conceding  26 runs in his four overs at Pallekele Stadium on July 28, Sunday.

Bishnoi who was awarded Player of the Match for his iconic performance in the second T20I said that both Suryakumar Yadav and Shubman Gill backed him while captaining India. Shubman Gill captained team India in the five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe and Suryakumar Yadav is currently leading India against Sri Lanka where Gill is his deputy.

"Suryakumar is doing great captaincy. I have played under him during the Australia series as well. He has been good. Shubman Gill's captaincy was also great. In Zimbabwe, we also did great as a captain. They always back me and as a bowler you cannot ask for anything more than this when the captain backs you. Suryakumar and Shubman have both backed me," Bishnoi said in the post-match press conference.

After winning the second T20I against Sri Lanka, team India sealed the series by 2-0. Now, Men in Blue will play the third T20I against Sri Lanka on July 30 at the same venue.

Ravi Bishnoi for Gautam Gambhir

Ravi Bishnoi has played under Gautam Gambhir's mentorship in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) before Indian colours. He said that he shares a very good bond with India's head coach.

"I am sharing a great bond with Gautam Gambhir as he has been with LSG for two years. He has not asked me to change anything as such. He has told me to do what I am doing currently. His advice was useful to me earlier as well, and now too."

Bishnoi used the spin-friendly track to his advantage as he gave the Sri Lankan batters a run for their money.

"They play spin really well, but I don't know what has happened to them. They collapsed between the middle overs, and they were known as a good spin-playing team, but I think something has gone wrong," Bishnoi said.

Yesterday's injury was left behind only. I feel good to be able to contribute for the team and help India win. There is no regret about not getting a hat-trick. It's not in my hand."
